Congratulations to Betsaida “Betsy” Perez of Milford who recently received a 2026 Latino Excellence on the Hill Award from the Black & Latino Legislative Caucus at the State House for her selfless and dedicated work on behalf of the community and others.

Betsaida was employed at a daycare facility in Milford for 16 years. She worked closely with parents as a translator while engaged with the local Spanish speaking population and specifically with their children to ensure that they had the support needed to succeed to their full potential.

Betsaida’s mother, Rosa, diagnosed with Lupus at age 13, suffered with end-stage renal disease to the point that she needed a kidney transplant. In 2025, she was fortunate to receive the lifesaving gift of a kidney transplant from a deceased donor.

Recognizing that her mother's transplant gave her a second chance at life, Betsaida became a volunteer at New England Donor Services (NEDS) where she advocates for the importance of organ and tissue donation, especially within communities of color. Last year, both Betsaida and Rosa participated in NEDS annual Blue & Green Walk/5K in Worcester with their team, "Rosa's Hope Squad."

Thank you, Betsaida, for your wonderful work!
