At the Sept. 10 meeting of the Milford School Committee, Rebecca Rhodes (Milford High School Class of 2006) presented a gift of $25,000 to Lisa Soto, Director of Special Education, and Dr. Corrie Masterson, Director of Shining Star Early Childhood Center, earmarked for the Special Education Department and Shining Star.

“Milford schools provided me with a great education (Hampshire College, B.A. 2010, Columbia University, M.A. 2013),” said Rhodes. “At the same time, faculty members provided the emotional support that I needed when my mother suffered a tragic automobile accident, leaving her paraplegic. This gift is special to me as a way to honor her.”

District Superintendent Dr. Craig Consigli added, “Community support for our children with special needs is most welcome. We are proud of Rebecca for her academic achievements and returning to Milford to provide this wonderful gift.”

Rebecca is the daughter of Milford resident Mr. Harold Rhodes, a leading advocate in Milford for persons with disabilities.
