A tea-riific time was had by all

The annual Senior Tea at the Mendon Senior Center on Sun., July 26, honored members who are 85 years of age and older, including several guests from surrounding towns.

Sponsored by the Mendon Council on Aging, the event featured Council member Earl Pearlman on the piano, performing favorites from the Great American Songbook. 

Council members Peg Nogueira, Dona Son, and Diane Howell, along with dedicated volunteers, served an elegant assortment of refreshments, including strawberry punch, black tea, cucumber sandwiches, chicken salad sandwiches, homemade scones, cherry squares, lemon pastries, and more.

Each guest received a yellow carnation, a symbol of friendship, as a parting gift. 

Throughout the afternoon, old friends were reunited, new friendships were formed, and the room was filled with conversation and laughter.

One of the highlights of the event came when another musician, a percussionist, joined Earl Pearlman for an impromptu performance with his box drum. Soon, another pianist took a turn at the keyboard, and then another, creating a lively musical collaboration that provided the perfect finale to a memorable afternoon.
