On June 22, several members of the Upton community and Habitat for Humanity gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony to mark Habitat's first project in town.

A derelict house at the corner of West Hartford Avenue and Cape Road will be replaced by a new affordable four-bedroom home for a local family to be built by Habitat, its prospective owners, and many volunteers.

The project has been years in the making and was brought to fruition thanks to dedicated efforts by the local Habitat staff, Upton's Affordable Housing Trust, and Upton's town officers.

Upton residents are welcome to volunteer to help build the house, regardless of skill level. For more information, visit https://www.habitatmwgw.org/volunteer/.
