July 14 program to feature special guests, race car

The Upton Historical Society will host a special program, “Remembrances of Westboro Speedway, from an Upton Perspective,” on Tues., July 14, at 6:30 p.m. at the Upton Community Center, 9 Milford St., Upton.

The event will celebrate the lives and racing careers of George “Tucker” Summers and his son, Ricky Summers, both well-known champion drivers on the local racing circuit.

The evening’s program will feature members of the Summers family, the sons of a former owner of Westboro Speedway, and former pit crew members sharing memories and stories from the speedway’s racing days.

Also featured across the parking lot at the VFW Car Show will be an original race car once owned by Connie Lajoie and driven by Tucker Summers, displayed in its original racing condition.
