Second Annual Senior Soirée
The Second Annual Senior Soirée was held at the Upton Community Center on Friday April 24.
The theme for this year’s event was the 1970’s. Over 75 seniors danced the night away to disco music provided by a dee jay. Many seniors were dressed in their best 1970’s outfits! We had an excellent plated dinner catered by Country Sooper. Dessert was provided by the Bloomer Girls.
The event was sponsored by the Friends of Upton Seniors (FUSe). FUSe would like to thank the Upton Select Board for providing funding from the Knowlton Trust fund and from our friends at UniBank. Elder and Social Services Director Tania Paparazzo and her staff did an amazing job planning this event and making it an incredible night to remember.
Having a group of seniors in their 70’s, 80’s and 90’s dancing and socializing made for a truly memorable night. Most all agreed that this year’s dance was even more fun than last year!
Coffee Hour at Milhaus and Coach Road
The Friends of Upton Seniors (FUSe) is hosting a monthly Coffee Hour for seniors at Milhaus. Our last coffee hour was a huge success with over 15 seniors attending. We are hoping that in the future we can relocate the Coffee Hour to the old Senior Center room at Milhaus. Also in April, the new Director of the Upton Housing Authority (Haley Fetrow) hosted a Coffee Hour for the residents of Coach Road. Over 17 residents attended.
Ms. Fetrow outlined her plans to make drastic improvements to the Coach Road property. She has already arranged to have a dumpster on site for residents to get rid of unwanted items. FUSe is hoping to collaborate with Ms. Fetrow to offer monthly coffee hours at Coach Road.
