Children’s & Young Adult Events

Winter Trees Craft – Dec. 13,

11 a.m., ages 3+

Drop in anytime from 11 a.m. till 1 p.m. as we use construction paper, scissors, and paint to create a winter tree picture!


Winter Seed Sowing - Dec. 29, 1 p.m., ages 8 to adult

Join Danette Rutledge as she shares information about cultivating native New England plants for your yard! PLEASE NOTE: Participants must bring their own empty, clean milk gallon for planting their seeds. No registration required. Sponsored by the Upton Mosquito Tick & Control Board.

Adult Events

Vision Boarding for Your Goals with Local Expert Dominique Ross - Sat. Jan. 3, 10 a.m. -

12 p.m., Ages 13 – Adult

Plan for the new year with vision boarding! This program will begin with meditation and then proceed into a hands-on crafting workshop. In this workshop, you will contemplate your goals for the year, month, or week ahead and create a visual poster to keep you focused! Join us in this fun craft to visualize your goals. Drum Circle with Dave Curry - Saturday, Jan. 3, 7 - 9:30 p.m.

Ages 8 - Adult

Join facilitator Dave Curry for an evening of freestyle drumming. Instruction and extra drums are provided, but you can also bring your own drums and percussion instruments. No prior experience is necessary, so the circle is suitable for beginners on up to experienced drummers. Registration is requested. *Now a monthly program on the first Saturday of each month, sponsored by Friends of the Upton Library


Tabletop Game Night for Adults – Thursday, Dec. 18, 5:15 - 7:30 p.m.

Join our tabletop game series for adults. Meets every third Thursday of the month from 5:15 - 7:30 p.m. Beginners and experienced players both welcome!

Book Groups

Monthly book groups are facilitated by Upton Library staff. We also reserve book copies for local private book groups, contact us for more information!


Upton Reads Book Group

An eclectic mix of contemporary literary fiction with meetings on the second Tuesday afternoon and Thursday evening of each month, with a remote call-in option.

Tuesday, Jan. 13 at 12:45 p.m., and Thursday, Jan. 15 at 6:45 p.m.: James by Percival Everett.


Fic or No Fic Book Group

An adult book group led by Librarian Micaela that alternates fiction and non-fiction selections. Meets on the last Wednesday of each month at 6:45 p.m. No Meeting in December. Next Meeting will be on Jan. 28.


Tween Book Club – Dec. 18 at 6:30 p.m.

This club is especially for our middle grade patrons, ages 10 to 14. This group reads popular middle grade titles selected by our members. For our December meeting, we will be discussing the title The Secret Battle of Evan Pao by Wendy Wan Long Shang.


Kids’ Book Club – Jan. 7 at 4 p.m.

Our book club members explore popular juvenile chapter books on the first Wednesday of each month from 4 - 4:45 p.m. For our January meeting, we will be discussing the title Weird but True! USA by National Geographic Kids. This group is for ages 7 to 10.

Magic the Gathering: Commander – 4th Tuesday each month, 4 - 6 p.m., ages 8 to 16
