In June, residents gathered to celebrate the recently renovated Milford Town Park on Congress Street, between Spruce and Walnut Streets. Hundreds of people attended the celebration that included vendors, food trucks, and musical entertainment.

The renovation project began in 2024. The space now includes new tennis and pickleball courts; basketball courts with options for street hockey and futsal (a soccer-based game); and play areas specifically designed for children ages 2-5 years old, and 5–12-years old.

The youth play area was donated in memory of James “Slatt” Slattery. The basketball courts were rededicated to the memory of John S. “Chili” Frabotta, a former basketball official and coach, teacher, and friend; the original field was dedicated to his memory in 1987.

The focal point of the outdoor facility is a Fitness Court® Studio funded by the Milford Parks Department, Milford Cultural Council, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and the National Fitness Campaign. This court is designed for people aged 14 and older.

On one side of the 32-feet-wide multi-purpose training wall “is a full body circuit training center comprised of 7 movement zones. Each zone offers hundred of exercises, and trains different parts of the body through functional movement patterns,” according to signage. There are also detailed instructions on how to perform the movements: core, squat, push, lunge, pull, agility, and bend.

On the other side of the wall is a 32-feet-wide mural titled “Fitness for All” which depicts people of varying abilities in fitness and wellness activities. The mural  is printed on anti-graffiti laminated vinyl and was funded by the Milford Cultural Council.
