Milford ‘Yellow Dot’ program alerts first responders to medical or behavioral conditions
The Town of Milford participates in the Yellow Dot program.
According to www.milfordpolice.org, “The Yellow Dot is a program that provides first responders with quick access to critical medical information about the occupants of a motor vehicle in the event of an accident or health emergency. This program is perfect for anyone [who] has a loved one with a medical or behavioral condition.” The program is free.
How it works
Yellow Dot stickers, and additional information, are available at the Milford Police Station and the senior center. Police will also deliver a sticker to your home (call the station to make arrangements). Place the sticker on the driver’s side rear window of the car. “In the event of an emergency, the Yellow Dot Decal alerts responders that critical medical information is in the glove compartment of the vehicle.”
Why it works
Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino said the Yellow Dot initiative has been an effective tool for the town. "What this does is it gives a 'heads up' to the officers. It really helps the officer gain a perspective on the people that he or she is interacting with."
