Mendon elect town officials, reject override for new senior and community center

Mendon Town Clerk Ellen S. Agro reports that 1,240 votes were cast in the May 14 annual town election. The results are as follows:
- Town Moderator (1-year term): Thomas Merolli
- Town Clerk (3 yrs): Ellen Agro
- Select Board (2 seats, 3 ys): Brendan Chenelle, Michael Merolli
- Assessor (3 yrs): Kevin Rudden (write-in)
- Assessor (2 yrs): David Kurczy (write-in)
- Board of Health (3 yrs): Thomas Fichtner
- Housing Authority (5 yrs): Peter Denton
- MURSD School Committee (3 yrs): Erick Brown
- Parks Commissioner
(3 yrs): Jonathan Dudley (write-in)
- Planning Board (5 yrs): Eric Hodge
- Taft Library Board of Trustees (3 yrs): Alison Chu
- Water Commissioner
(3 yrs): Vincent Roy
Voters were also asked if they would agree to raise money through a Proposition 2 ½ override “to pay for the bond issued in order to design and construct a Mendon Senior and Community Center”. The vote failed with 629 opposed and 577 in favor.
