Milford School Highlights

New Elementary - Start and End Times

School hours for our three elementary schools have shifted for the 2023-2024 school year.  The new school hours for our elementary schools beginning in August are as follows:

Brookside Elem - 8:55 a.m. - 3:05 p.m.

Memorial Elem - 8:55 a.m. - 3:05 p.m.

Woodland Elem - 8:35 a.m. - 2:50 p.m.

Start/end times have not changed for Shining Star Early Childhood Center, Stacy Middle School, and Milford High School.


Milford Public Schools

Offers Meals at No Cost

for Students

Milford Public Schools will be participating in the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program. As part of this program, all schools will offer healthy meals every school day at NO COST to the students due to the implementation of the Community Eligibility Provision for school year 2023-2024. Students will be able to get breakfast and lunch at school without having to pay a fee or submit a household Application. Save the Date: 10/19: School Committee Meeting


DMH Behavioral Health Hotline The Department of Mental Health has launched a new Behavioral Health Help Line that people can call or text at 833-773-2445. The helpline can help individuals and families navigate the behavioral health system and access treatment, including mobile crisis services. It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in more than 200 languages. For more information, please see the FAQ. Milford High School

Best Buddies is an inclusive extracurricular club where individuals with and without disabilities form friendships and participate in planned activities throughout the school year.. There are opportunities for varying levels of participation in the club that would meet the needs students who have in and out of school commitments. Students interested exploring joining Best Buddies Club can stop by all students Milford High School has opportunities for everyone that meet all levels of in-school or out-of-school time commitments. If you are interested in joining, but have questions, please stop and see Mrs. Forgot in D4, Mr. Gaucher in room E6, or Ms. Santacroce in the Counseling Center, upper C-wing. All members will need to register at http://bestbuddies.org/join.


Stacy Middle School

Stacy Middle School introduced a new course called Math Connections Grades 6-8 as a special. This course has focused on financial literacy, project-based learning, and performance assessments to support students' learning in the Tier I mathematics classroom. Math Connections is an opportunity for students to build a deeper understanding by doing mathematics and communicating their ideas. Math Connections provides students with opportunities to learn personal finance skills, work on and present a variety of projects to strengthen their mathematical skills and collaborate with their peers in a mathematical environment. We are excited to work with FitMoney and PBLNow.


Woodland Elementary School (WES)

Woodland Elementary School held three “Back-to-School” Open Houses for families in Sept. The events allowed parents/guardians to visit and learn about the school, and meet their child’s teachers and learn about class and curriculum expectations. Related Arts Staff, Intervention Staff, Counselors, and other Special Education staff shared classroom curriculum and expectations with parents and guardians.

Memorial Elementary School

Memorial Elementary School had an excellent start to the school year. The theme this year is "Better Together" and the school is focusing on all the great things that can happen when people work together. 

On Wednesday, Sept. 13, Memorial Elementary School participated in a "Stop, Drop and ST Math" event where all students logged into ST math. There was a special visit from the ST Math mascot, Jiji. MES students are becoming strong mathematicians and the school community is proud to announce that the school made 80% progress on ST Math last year.

Some of Memorial's first graders will be participated in IGNITE. IGNITE is an individualized one on one, daily virtual tutoring program that instructs students on specific reading skills at their reading level.

Brookside Elementary School

Brookside School held a Back to School Carnival on Sept. 8. Families enjoyed music, a bounce house, Touch a Truck and many other activities.

Some of Brookside's first graders will be participating in IGNITE. IGNITE is an individualized one on one, daily virtual tutoring program that instructs students on specific reading skills at their reading level. 

PTO meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Brookside. 

This summer Milford began installing permanent modular classrooms at Brookside Elementary School to support the space needs due to our growing student population across the district. Classrooms will provide students and teachers with modern learning spaces that will meet students educational needs.  Brookside is in the final stages of completing an addition of six modular classrooms to meet the needs of the districts growing population.

Shining Star Early Childhood Center (SSECC)

Dr. Masterson and Shining Star staff are excited to start the student spotlight Character Kids program in October. Students are aligned with a SuperHero Character Trait (Brave, Kind, Honest, Cooperative, Responsible) each month as they display any of the character traits outlined by the program.

Milford Family & Community Network CFCE (MFCN CFCE):

Information on the MFCN CFCE Playgroups: All playgroups are FREE and intended for children from birth to 5 years old with their parent/caregiver(s), unless otherwise specified. MFCN CFCE will be offering a variety of groups, both in the morning and afternoon. Placement is chosen by lottery. Attendance is not required. MFCN CFCE will hold two sessions of playgroups per year. Session I runs from late September through January and Session II runs from late January through May.
