Saturday Hours and “Silent Saturday” study option

The Milford Town Library is open once again on Saturdays from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Silent Saturdays are back as well. Those looking for a truly silent study room for deep concentration can sign-up at the Information Desk to use the ESL Classroom between 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. 


Atelier Artists: Still Life

The Atelier Artists will be presenting their group challenge exhibit, Still Life, throughout October at the library. This group, founded by artistic director Sal Ferreira, brings the artists together in an atmosphere of encouragement and camaraderie. Each year, the artists choose a theme and each creates a painting in their own style. This year, several new atelier artists will be exhibiting for the first time. The exhibit is dedicated in loving memory of Dottie Rose, Barbara Thayer, and Vas Ferreira who passed away this year.


Carolyn Waters & The Rusty Mikes

The Friends welcome Carolyn Waters & the Rusty Mikes for a blues concert on Saturday, October 14 at 2 p.m. in the Granite and Quarry Rooms. The band has performed throughout the country. With their soulful sound, Carolyn & the Rusty Mikes will give you an afternoon where you'll be carried away on a musical journey. This concert is free and suitable for all ages.


Center Book Group

The Center Book Group will meet on Tuesday, October 17 at 10 a.m. at the Milford Senior Center to discuss Eternal by Lisa Scottoline. 

Set in WWII Italy, this sweeping tale has a love triangle between three friends Elisabetta, Marco and Sandro, who have come of age in the shadow of Fascism. When the Nazis eventually occupy Rome, their lives are forever altered by their choices.

ESL Drop in Classes 

Fall ESL classes are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7 - 8 p.m. All adults who want to improve their English listening and speaking skills are encouraged to attend these free classes. Classes are held in the ESL classroom on the lower level of the library. No registration is necessary. Class materials will be provided.

As aulas de esl de outono são ministradas às terças e quintas-feiras, das 7 às 8. Todos os adultos que desejam melhorar suas habilidades de escuta e fala em inglês são incentivados a participar dessas aulas gratuitas. As aulas são ministradas na sala de ESL no nível inferior da biblioteca. Nenhum registro é necessário. Materiais de aula serão fornecidos.

Las clases de ESL de otoño se llevan a cabo los martes y jueves de 7pm-8pm. Se anima a todos los adultos que deseen mejorar sus habilidades para escuchar y hablar en inglés a asistir a estas clases gratuitas. Las clases se llevan a cabo en el salón de ESL en el nivel inferior de la biblioteca. No es necesario registrarse. Se proporcionará material de clase.


Citizenship Classes Start September 23

This fall, citizenship preparation classes will be held on Saturdays from 1 - 3 p.m. starting Saturday, September 23. While the classes are free, only those individuals who meet the criteria for citizenship (5 years US residency, 3 years if married to a US citizen) are able to attend. The course instructor Atef Sorial will screen all potential participants in person. 


Friends of the Library Fall Booksale

The Friends of the Library will hold their fall booksale on Friday, October 27 from 4 - 7 p.m. for a members preview and on Saturday, October 28  from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. to the general public. Great deals on books, movies, music, puzzles and more for the whole family can be had. Join other book lovers at this can’t miss event. 

The Friends provide funding for library programs for both youth and adults, museum passes and microfilm archiving. 

Friends memberships ($15 annually) can be purchased or renewed at the door.


Soccer Grannies: Play at Any Age!

The Friends of the Milford Town Library welcome The Soccer Grannies on Thursday, November 2 at 7 p.m.

Please join Jean Duffy and Rita Wilkie for an inspiring book event about the power of sport for players of any age. Hear how these two Massachusetts women found their way to the soccer pitch and built a connection with a team of grandmothers in South Africa. 

Jean's book, Soccer Grannies recounts a true story about resilient 40-to 80-year-old South African women who defy social convention to play soccer for the health benefits and companionship the game provides. 

Books will be on sale and proceeds are being donated to the Beka Ntsanwisi Foundation.
