Milford Lodge #1356, Sons and Daughters of Italy awards 'Study in Italy' trip to Milford High School Student

On Wednesday, June 7 a summer study program in Verona, Italy was awarded to a Milford High School student Patrick Murray. 
The "Study in Italyā€¯ summer program is sponsored by the Sons and Daughter of Italy (Milford Lodge) along with the Senator Louis P. Bertonazzi Foundation and Dr. Peter Morganelli Scholarship.

A Milford High school graduate who has compiled a minimum B average and four years of Italian has been selected to study in Italy since 1998. Sponsored by the three local organizations, the "Study in Italy' Program is the only one of its kind in Massachusetts. 
At the same ceremony the Milford High School senior recipients of the Dr. Peter Morganelli Scholarship sponsored by the Milford Lodge Sons of Italy were also announced. The Scholarship winners for 2023 are Fionn Diorio, Peter Morganelli, Alana Parrott and Isabella Shady. 
The Junior Lodge this year included eleven students from Milford High School under the guidance of Mrs. Lisa Bertonazzi-Valaouras and Sara Ruscitti. Additionally families and legacy scholarship recipient members attended. 
Highlights from the event include a speech by Senator Bertonazzi thanking and acknowledging our new graduates for investing time to learn about other cultures. He conveyed his message to the new graduates that upon entering the world that we will always encounter differences and they will be better for it. 
A special thank you to Sam Allegrezza of the Marchegiano Club for the gracious donation of event space. The cooperation between our organizations in efforts to preserve our Italian heritage culture is unparalleled.
