The Taft Public Library in Mendon recently completed work on its 5-Year Strategic Plan.  It was the culmination of a year-long effort to reach out to Mendon residents and the surrounding community to receive feedback not only on what the community likes about the library, its programs, collection, and services, but what challenges they see going forward and what opportunities they identify for growth and enhancements over the next five years.

Library Director Andrew Jenrich was pleased with the process and, in particular, with the work of Library Consultant Mary Braney who conducted the focus groups and public forums.  Taft Public Library staff and Trustees, and the Friends of the library all took part in the process as well as Mendon seniors, parents and caregivers, and middle and high school students.

Special thanks go to the Taft Strategic Planning Committee which included Mr. Jenrich, Children's Librarian Tara Windsor, Library Trustees Leesa Michael and Alison Chu, Sue Ruggiero, Charles Noel, Naomi Vogt, Savannah Histen, Mary Anne Moran, and Lauren Scott for all their hard work, assistance, and input throughout the process.

The library would also like to thank the Taft staff (Ms. Windsor, Kristie Heumann, Monika Schmid, Annie Romano, Jennifer O'Brien, and Brenda Whitner), the Library Trustees (Chair Ellen Agro, Vice Chair Wayne Phipps, Ms. Michael, Ms. Chu, Gaye Porciello, and Sean Nicholson), and the Library Friends (President Caitriona Scott, Treasurer Lisa Bibring, and Secretary Leigh Martin) for their efforts.

The Taft Public Library looks forward to addressing the upcoming initiatives outlined in the plan and meeting stated goals.
