Friends of Mendon Elders News:
The Friends of Mendon Elders would like to say thank you to all the folks that attended the Annual Town Meeting and voted YES to our next step forward in our quest for the new Mendon Senior Center/Community Center. We are obviously disappointed at the town election vote but we need to move forward towards a solution for the seniors of Mendon to have a building that serves their needs. A thousand thanks to the committee who worked so long and so hard in creating the planned new building.
Thank you also, to everyone who stopped by our booth on Sunday, April 28 at Galliford’s Give Back event celebrating local businesses and non-profits organizations. Congratulations to, Rene and Jeanne Demers, winners of the potted pansy plant offered by the Friends.
The Friends is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization raising funds for the benefit of the senior center and the seniors it serves. We have not raised the membership fee this year, but if you are able, we would welcome an additional donation.
Friends Dine Out— Carpool with friends from the senior center the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. or meet at the restaurant at 12 noon. The cost of lunch is your responsibility but the company is free!
Wednesday June 19 at Uno’s in Bellingham. (The Senior Center will be closed on June 19 in observation of Juneteeth.)
A note of gratitude from the COA: The Mendon Council on Aging would like to thank the Friends for the many ways they support the senior center and its patrons—by offering grant funding for exercise programs so we can keep prices affordable, supporting the landscaping efforts of our Beautification Committee volunteers, funding quality programming and entertainment and paying for the bulk mailing permit to keep expenses down. These are just a few examples of the many ways the Friends fundraising efforts are put to good use. Thank you, friend, for your continued support of the Friends!
